Use HSA/FSA To Pay For Your Willow Reformer And Save Up To $600 In Taxes
The IRS does not let you spend HSA or FSA dollars on fitness equipment. Not automatically or without proof. To make your Willow Reformer eligible, a licensed healthcare provider has to determine that the purchase is medically necessary for your specific condition and put that determination in writing. That document is called a Letter of Medical Necessity. Without it, your HSA or FSA administrator will not approve the purchase.
Normally, you would have to find a provider, book an appointment, explain what you want to buy and why, wait for a letter, hope your administrator accepts it, then come back and try to check out before your cart expires. Previously, this process took days or even weeks.
But now, we do all of the heavy lifting for you.
We partnered with Flex, a licensed telehealth network, and integrated their clinical team directly into our payment system. When you select Flex at checkout, you answer a short set of health questions (a brief survey that takes 3 minutes).
A licensed clinician on Flex’s telehealth team reviews your answers. If your condition qualifies — and a wide range of conditions do, from musculoskeletal and cardiovascular to metabolic, autoimmune, neurological, and mental health — the clinician issues your Letter of Medical Necessity. That letter and an itemized receipt arrive in your inbox within 24 hours.
Your letter is valid for 12 months and your receipt is formatted for your administrator. You check out, and the system handles the rest. Just like that, your reformer is on its way home.
Remember, you already have pretax health dollars sitting in an account that, if it is an FSA, it typically expires at the end of the year whether you use it or not. And because that money was set aside before taxes, every dollar you spend from it is worth more than a dollar from your regular paycheck. On a $1,999 reformer, that difference can add up to $600 you would have otherwise lost to taxes.
We partnered with Flex because we know you are not just shopping around. If you have been thinking about a reformer, this is a smart way to put that money toward something that will truly transform your body. And that is exactly what these funds are for.
How Does It Work?

Frequently Asked HSA/FSA Questions
Can I use my HSA/FSA account to place an order over the phone?
Not at this time. HSA/FSA payments go through Flex at checkout, which is online only. If you need help placing your order, email support@willowpilates.com and we will walk you through it.
What is an FSA or HSA and what are the benefits?
FSA and HSA accounts let you set aside pretax dollars for qualifying health purchases. Because the money is pretax, most customers save an effective 20 to 30 percent on their order. On a Willow Reformer, that can mean $400 to $600 back in your pocket.
The main difference between the two: HSA funds are yours permanently and roll over year to year. FSA funds are employer owned and typically expire at the end of the year, so if you have FSA dollars to use, this is a good time to put them to work.
How can I spend my FSA or HSA funds at Willow?
The fastest way is through Flex at checkout. Select Flex as your payment method, complete a brief telehealth survey, and pay with your HSA or FSA card right there.
If you do not have your HSA/FSA card handy, you can pay with a regular credit or debit card instead. Flex will email you an itemized receipt you can submit to your provider for reimbursement.
I’m not seeing HSA or FSA options show up at checkout. Why not?
The most common reason is Shop Pay. If Shop Pay automatically selects as your payment method, it can hide the Flex option. Try checking out as a guest, or look for the option to choose a different payment method.
If you still do not see Flex, make sure your cart only contains eligible products and that your HSA/FSA balance covers the purchase. If nothing works, email support@willowpilates.com and we will sort it out.
I keep being pushed into Shop Pay. How do I use my HSA/FSA card?
If Shop Pay keeps selecting automatically, check out as a guest. That clears the saved payment method and lets you choose Flex. From there you can enter your HSA or FSA card details directly.
What is a qualified customer?
Anyone with an active HSA or FSA account and a qualifying health condition. When you select Flex at checkout, a brief telehealth survey confirms that your condition qualifies. A wide range of conditions are eligible, from musculoskeletal and cardiovascular to metabolic, autoimmune, neurological, and mental health. Most customers are approved in minutes. There is no appointment, no paperwork, and no waiting.
How do I confirm eligibility when checking out?
Select Flex as your payment method at checkout. You will answer a short telehealth survey, which takes a few minutes. Flex handles the rest. Within 24 hours you will receive a Letter of Medical Necessity and an itemized receipt by email, which you can submit to your provider if you paid with a regular card instead of your HSA/FSA card.
Why do I need to provide my health information?
The IRS requires a Letter of Medical Necessity before HSA or FSA funds can be used on a qualifying product. That is why Flex asks a few health questions at checkout. It is a brief telehealth survey, not a doctor’s appointment. Your information is handled by Flex’s licensed telehealth team, and your Letter of Medical Necessity and itemized receipt arrive by email within 24 hours.
Help! I mistakenly entered my name and/or date of birth incorrectly.
Please email support@withflex.com, and they will reach out to their telehealth team to reprocess and send your corrected Letter of Medical Necessity.
I did not receive an itemized receipt and/or Letter of Medical Necessity
Please check your spam folder, as emails from notifications@withflex.com may sometimes be filtered as spam by certain email providers. If you still can’t find it, please contact support@withflex.com and provide the email address associated with your order.
What if I don’t have my HSA/FSA card on hand?
If you don’t have your HSA or FSA card available, still choose “Flex | Pay with HSA/FSA” as your payment method. Enter your credit card information, and Flex will email you an itemized receipt for reimbursement submission.
Is sales tax covered by HSA/FSA funds, or is it treated separately?
Yes. Sales tax on eligible items is covered by your HSA or FSA funds. If your cart has both eligible and ineligible items, the tax is split across your payment methods automatically.
